CANACONA: Unhappy over poor transportation facilities after dusk, residents of Canacona have demanded a Kadamba bus service from Margao to Canacona at about 8 pm.

Commuters, especially office-goers from Canacona, have complained about reaching home late after work at Vasco, Panjim, Ponda and other areas.

The last bus for Canacona leaves the Margao KTC bus stand at 6.45 pm and after this, several residents are put to great hardship looking for various ways and means to reach Canacona.

“ST buses or even inter-state KTC buses plying through Canacona charge a hefty ticket of Rs 100 against the normal Rs 35 chargeable for the 40 km route from Margao,” complained Devappa Gaonkar, a regular commuter.

In-fact, about 40 employees of Goa Shipyard Ltd have also petitioned the KTC to start a bus service from Vasco bus stand at 7 pm along the Margao-Cuncolim-Balli-Canacona route.

“We had met KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida who after hearing us assured us to work out something positively but our grievances continues to be unattended. We also met Canacona MLA and Sports minister Ramesh Tawadkar but his assurances too failed to address our problems,” informed Gaonkar.
