However, the water began to recede by Saturday morning. Fire brigade personnel had to toil hard through Friday night till early Saturday morning to cut trees and pump out water from water-logged areas.
According to the fire services, a huge cashew tree came crashing down on the road near Gaondongrim Panchayat, totally blocking the road.
The personnel were also called to Char-Rasta to clear water from several houses.
A minor landslide was reported at Panna-Agonda, as a two-year-old retaining wall came crashing down, inundating the Agonda-Canacona roadside gutter. Many trees including a mango tree that got uprooted due to landslide partially blocked the road. A number of other incidents of uprooting of trees were also reported elsewhere in the taluka, which were cleared by the fire services personnel.
