PANJIM: Canara Bank has opened its 6th overseas branch at Johannesburg in
South Africa on May 19, 2014.
The branch was inaugurated by the CMD of the Bank, R K Dubey in the presence
of Virender Gupta, High Commissioner of India at South Africa.
This is the first branch opened in South Africa by the bank. Canara Bank
already has 5 overseas branches at London and Leicester in United Kingdom,
Hongkong, Shanghai and Bahrain, apart from Representative Office at Sharjah
and joint venture Bank at Moscow. The bank also has plans to expand its
overseas presence by opening branches / offices at New York, Frankfurt, Dubai,
Dar-es-Salaam, Sau Paulo, Tokyo, Abuja and Qatar during the year 2014-15.
