Rajendra Teli, who filed his nomination from Ward 9 for Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) election, has resigned from the primary membership of Bharatiya Janata Party in protest for being denied party support.
Addressing press persons at Mapusa on Tuesday evening, Teli said he has been a primary member of the BJP for the last 14 years and toiled hard to strengthen the party in Bardez.
“Inspite of this, Mapusa MLA Francis D’Souza has backstabbed me by announcing BJP’s support to Tushar Tople, who is an office bearer of Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party,” claimed Teli.
“I have worked hard for the progress of the party at various levels and hence I expected support from Mapusa MLA. Instead of extending his support to me, Francis D’Souza is asking me to withdraw my candidature or not to expect BJP’s support from Ward 9,” alleged Teli.
“This is totally unfair and unjust. Hence, I have submitted my resignation to Mapusa BJP Block President Rajsingh Rane. I have decided to contest the municipal election without the support of the party. I enjoy support from the residents of Ward 9,” said Teli.
