MAPUSA: Ports Minister Michael Lobo laid foundation stone for strengthening and renovation of existing bund from Nerul Bridge to Caculo House, at Candolim, at an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 crore, recently.
Also present were Zilla Panchayat member Dattaprasad Dabholkar, Sarpanch Blaize Fernandes and others.
Lobo said,”The existing bund is constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 8 crore, which is one and half kilometre long. Now, this renovation work will have a pathway of laterite stone, fishing gallery, 720 metres of wall, illumination, interlocking pavers blocks, RCC slab over sluice gate and more,” Lobo informed.
He said that the government is planning to depict what Calangute is famous for. Candolim was famous for agriculture, fishing, and religious places like temples, churches. We will have statues depicting all this.
