Carmona panch wants trio arrested
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, SEPT 4
Carmona Panch member Orlando Da Silva has demanded immediate arrests of the three persons who had abused and threatened him at the Panchayat meeting this week.
In a representation to the district Superintendent of police, South Allan De Sa, the Panch said though the Colva police had registered a criminal case under section 353, 504 and 506 of the IPC against the trio, no arrests have been effected by the police till date.
“The accused are not arrested and are roaming free in the village even though the sections demands arrests”, he said, adding that the accused mocked at my family members at the Carmona market place on account of their political clout.
Orlando referred to the decision of the Colva police on August 29 wherein the police had booked him and his friend due to political pressure from a minister following a complaint lodged by the sarpanch. “I had latched the panchayat door from outside when I heard voices of some men inside. If a act done under good faith by a elected Panchayat member demands an arrest under section 342 of the IPC, so also a complaint registered under section 353, 504 and 506 of the IPC by the Colva police for threatening the public servant on duty of dire consequences at a panchayat meeting, is also a very serious offence and also demands arrest’, he said and claimed that the accused are not arrested till date only due to political pressures of the minister, who is the relative of two of the accused.
