MARGAO: Carmona Panchayat at its recently held meeting unanimously endorsed Power Minister Nilesh Cabral’s streetlight policy and while resolving to give its consent to it said other panchayats should support progress of the villages as the panchayats cannot afford to maintain the streetlights given its meager funds.
Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge opined that it was a very innovative policy and said their village has been suffering due to non-functioning of streetlights which is further aggravated by the fact that the maintenance team always plays truant.
