Incidentally, Xavier Fernandes was recently elected as Carmona deputy sarpanch after Orlando Da Silva resigned from the post.
A special meeting to elect the sarpanch was convened on Friday and attended by all seven panchas. As Sandra was the only panch to file nomination papers, she was elected to the post.
Meanwhile, the Carmona panchayat is in chaos ever since the Raheja issue cropped up, with several agitations being held against the panchayat and State government.
Carmona locals have also criticised the recent statements of Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza regarding the licenses given to Raheja.
They pointed out that the reason for their protests and petitions is that they have enough proof as to why the permissions and license should be revoked immediately.
