PANJIM: The Carnival committees of the three municipalities of Mapusa, Margao and Vasco have expressed disappointment over the meagre funds for Carnival celebrations. During the press conference, the chairpersons requested that government should hike the grants from Rs 15 lakh each to at least Rs 25 lakh each.
Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Arthur D’Silva and Mormugao Municipal Council Fiola Rego said the sanctioned funds were insufficient. They also requested to extend the glamour component to their municipalities instead of concentrating on Panjim only.
