PANJIM: Diocesan Catechetical Centre, Old Goa along with hosts Sao Mathias and Piedade Parishioners will hold Catechetical Day on Sunday, February 3, at Our Lady of Piety Church, Divar.
The Catechetical Day based on four characteristics of early Christians, viz share together, pray for the others, gather for the breaking of the bread (Mass) and faithful to the teachings of the elders, will have the main celebrant Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrao and Old Goa Deanery priests as concelebrants.
In all 375 catechists from all over Goa will be participating, which will have sessions for adults and catechists on the theme “faith gives abundant life and real progress is creation sanctified.”
The session for the adults will be conducted by Fr Kyriel D’Souza, Ida Coutinho, Paul Fernandes while for the catechists session Director of Diocesan Catechetical Centre Fr Alfred Vaz will give the talk.
On Saturday, Sao Mathias parishioners welcomed the delegates at Sao Mathias Church, Malar in the evening. Parish priest Fr Ausemio Monteiro gave the inaugural briefing to the delegates, who will be guests for a night with the villagers. Later lighting of the lamp ceremony was also held.
