Cavelossim favours VP 1, 3 status

The Cavelossim village Panchayat has finalized the regional plan on Sunday, with the villagers favouring VP 1 status for property below 1000 sq mts and VP 3 status for properties above 1000.
The plan was approved by the gram sabha of the Panchayat on Sunday evening, which was attended by the villagers.
Sarpanch Edwin Barretto informed that the villagers have voted for VP 3 status for properties above 1000 sq mts and VP 1 status for property less than 1000 sq mts. He said this decided has been taken to stop mega housing projects in the village and at the same time allow 80 per cent FAR for individual housing.
The Sarpanch further informed that the plan has proposed a five-meter road along the River Sal embankment not to create access but to protect the bandh and fields from saline waters.
As far as the garbage is concerned, the gram Sabha has resolved to make it mandatory for all commercial establishments to set up composting units in their backyard. It was resolved not to renew the trade licenses till the establishments comply with the guidelines.
On CRZ, a suggestion was made to allow housing within 200-500 meters from the High Tide Line. The meeting also objected to the proposal to covert the area from 0-200 mts fro the HTL as settlement.
