The indictment against Sameer and Arjun, directors of Kantilal and Company Private Limited, was filed before the Special Court in Panjim, Deputy SP Nilu Raut Desai said.
The 800-page indictment accuses the brothers of violating the Forest Act and indulging in illegal mining. The brothers were arrested and released on bail last week. SIT has been specially formed to probe cases related to illegal mining.
The case against them was registered on September 15, 2014 following a complaint by Mines Director Prasanna Acharya. They were granted anticipatory bail on October 9, 2015.
The complaint stated that between 2006 and 2011, the accused along with former Urban Development minister Joaquim Alemao and others illegally extracted iron ore at Asni Dongar, Curdi and Kurpem in Sanguem taluka.
