PANJIM: The Central Bureau of Investigation Monday handed over CDs of the sting operation in which suspended police sub inspector Sunil Gudlar was seen negotiating with two foreign women over the sale of drugs, to his legal counsel Adv Galileo Teles.

Gudlar who is being tried by the CBI for being linked to the police-drug peddler nexus case, had requested the Special Court in January that he should be given a copy of the CDs of the sting operation that is being used as evidence to try him. Voice samples of the telephonic conversation between Gudlar and Dudu’s girlfriend Zarina and sister Ayala was also sought.

Teles had sought the CDs on grounds that they are necessary to defend Gudlar.

“These will enable us to effectively defend our case. Otherwise it amounts to denial of a fair trial, and to argue the case before framing of charge,” he told the Court during arguments.

Meanwhile, the Court presided over by Judge Anuja Prabhudesai has kept the hearing for arguments before framing of charges in June.
