PANJIM: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday questioned passport officer Agnelo Fernandes for nearly three hours in connection with the corruption charges levelled against him.
Sources said the officer appeared before the investigation team at the CBI office, Bambolim around 10 am and left at 1 pm. The Central agency had sought his presence through a verbal request to the CBI court on Tuesday, which was granted on condition that he will not be arrested until his anticipatory bail plea is heard.
Fernandes, booked under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC, had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail, which CBI has opposed and is seeking his custodial interrogation. The court will hear the matter on Monday.
