CCP employee union has already served the notice to the CCP Commissioner and Mayor, labour commissioner, chief minister, urban development minister and the Goa Police.
Ajitsingh Rane, employees union president said that after completion of the 21 days prior notice on June 8, the employees will be going on complete strike. A total of 333 employees are working on daily wages with the CCP for more than a decade now, who are part of the union.
“We are demanding to regularise the services of these employees who are working with the CCP for more than 10 years and give the salaries of Rs 409 per day which was assured and accepted by the government,” Rane said.
The employees who are working to keep Panjim neat and clean are being meagrely paid Rs 220 per day till today. These workers are instrumental in garbage collection across Panjim in the CCP’s jurisdiction. When the same workers had gone on strike last December, the city was literally stinking for days.
Rane has informed that on Wednesday the union has decided to hold a rally in Panjim city to protest against the government’s failure to fulfil the demands of the workers.
