CCP seeks public help for managing waste

The Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) has now sought citizens’ help to carry out segregation of bio-degradable waste at source.
Presently, the non bio-degradable waste which includes glass, plastics, metals etc collected twice a week from the city — from both house-holds and commercial establishments and is taken to sorting centres within the city.
However, CCP has discovered that this practice consumes a lot of time, labour and warrants patience to segregate the recyclable waste from the residual.
Their experimentation with a new mechanism of further segregation of non bio-degradable waste at the source itself instead of bringing it to the sorting centres proved otherwise. The CCP found that it results in saving of time, labour, transport and timely disposal of of waste at the sorting centres.
Currently, CCP is helped by various citizens.
She has volunteered to assist the CCP in carrying out segregation of non-biodegradable waste at source.
But in order to extend this mechanism to cover more areas, the CCP is now looking for help from citizen volunteers to attain this objective.
