Youth saved from drowning

An 18-year-old boy was saved from drowning by Surf Life Saving team of lifeguards at Dona Paula Beach on Thursday evening.
According to reports, at about 4.45 pm, one Bijendra Pandey Ray jumped into the water near the rocks and was soon shouting for help, which was noticed by SLSG lifeguard Captain Philip Almeida.
The lifeguard immediately rushed to the victim and secured him with the rescue tube. The victim was stable and had no injuries. When the lifeguards made enquiries to ascertain the identity of the victim it was observed that the victim was mentally retarded.
