A portion of the ceiling slab collapsed at the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office in Pernem, resulting in injuries to a clerk on duty. The injured staffer was promptly attended to, and the incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of the ageing government building.
Following the mishap, former Mandrem Sarpanch Bala Naik visited the site and assessed the condition of the premises. Expressing strong concern, Naik warned that if repair works are not completed within the next eight days, local residents will be left with no choice but to launch a protest.
He said the incident highlights the neglect of public infrastructure and poses a serious risk to employees and visitors. Naik urged the authorities to take immediate action and carry out urgent repairs to prevent any further accidents.
