MAPUSA: The residents of Bandilwada and Deulwada of Chapora village raised their voices over water scarcity issue on Saturday. The locals have warned that if the water scarcity problem is not solved within 15 days then they would stage a dharna outside the executive engineer’s office at Porvorim.
The locals said they are facing water scarcity problem for the last three years. Even after making several applications and visits to the PWD office, their problem has remained unsolved till date, the locals added.
A local said, “None of the authorities are concerned about our problem. We have made many applications to the PWD department, ministers and all the departments concerned and approached them personally but we have received no response from them.”
The locals further said that they followed all the procedures and requirements of the government departments such as Panchayat, PWD and have approached every single authority to solve the problem but the water scarcity problem is rising day by day. Now the Panchayat and PWD are issuing more and more connections when they don’t have enough water to supply to the existing connections, the locals said.
Locals also said that the PWD has also not made provisions of supplying water through tankers and officials give an excuse that tankers are not sanctioned.
The locals say they are forced to bring water and wash their clothes at their relatives’ place since they don’t receive water continuously for 4 to 5 days a week. They said they are forced to store water and use it for almost a week.
