PANJIM: In all probability, international visitors might be able to fly in the country by mid-month, news that could bring relief to the tourism stakeholders.
Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik said the Centre could allow charter operations as the country is reporting decline in COVID-19 cases.

“We will start national and international tourism, possibly by October 15. An announcement will be made soon. International flights have started and we have requested for charter flights to resume by a particular date so that people can book trips to India,” he said at a function organised to observe Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, on Saturday, October 2.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had forwarded a request made by Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) to the Union Ministry urging to grant permissions to international charter flights at the earliest. In a recent statement, the Chief Minister assured that the Centre will soon grant permission to allow charter operations and that 100 per cent double dose vaccination coverage by October 31 will be a boost to Goa.
TTAG President Niles Shah, while speaking to Herald, also confirmed that charter and schedule flights will soon resume bringing relief to tourism traders in Goa.
