VASCO: Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho on Friday directed Chicalim panchayat authorities to conduct fresh assessment of all the industrial units and commercial sheds operating from the Murgao Industrial Estate and subsequently levy taxes as per panchayat rules. Godinho also asked the Chicalim Comunidade authorities to initiate action against all new encroachments by commercial units in and around the Industrial Estate.
Various directions were issued during the joint-meeting initiated by Godinho and attended by Chicalim Panchayat body, Chicalim Comunidade officials besides the representatives from industrial units operating from the Estate.
During the meeting, Chicalim Sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira complaint majority of the industrial units operating under panchayat jurisdiction were not paying any revenue to any authority, including Chicalim panchayat.
