Chicalim murder case verdict today

The South Goa Sessions court will pronounce the sentence in the Lalita Nepali case on Tuesday.
Arguments were heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge, P V Kamat on Monday over the quantum of sentence to be awarded to accused Lalita Nepal, who was held guilty by the court for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in connection with the death of Madhvi Devaraver at the Salgaocar Medical Research Centre, Chicalim.
Public Prosecutor Pramod Hede, who appeared for the state, submitted to the court to give maximum punishment prescribed by law.
In this case, the accused on April 24, 2008 had entered the SMRC, Chicalim and assaulted the deceased Madhavi with a kitchen knife on her abdomen and other parts of her body causing her death.
The accused thereafter inflicted self injuries on her hands and attempted to commit suicide.
