VASCO: Residents of Sierra cooperative society, near Vidya Mandir School, Chicalim, have raised serious concerns over the continuously flowing sewage from the neighbouring buildings next to their complex. The residents claimed that despite several complaints nothing has been done as of now.
The residents, many of whom are already suffering from dengue and malaria fever, have urged the authorities to look into the matter and take immediate action.

“The sewage is clogged near our complex. We have to close our window to avoid the foul smell. We have complained since 2019, but no action has been taken by the authorities,” one local complained.
A teacher from the society, Aisha said many of our children are falling sick. We have written to the authorities and to the Goa State Pollution Control Board, but all our efforts to rid the society of this sewage has fallen on deaf ears.
Resident Prem Kumar said that they are suffering due to effluents from our neighbour’s place. “In our society, some children have contracted dengue. We have approached the authorities, but they have not responded,” he alleged.
