MARGAO: Government decision to name the Taleigao indoor stadium after the founder president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh Shyama Prasad Mukherjee has kicked up a row with the Social Democratic Party of India demanding that the stadium should be named after any Goan freedom fighter or any Goan who has contributed to the welfare of Goa and Goans.
SDPI President Ziaulla Rikarty told the media that
the government should change the name of the stadium immediately. “By naming the stadium after Mukherjee, who was a strong RSS leader, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is also strongly supporting the Hindutva agenda, which will destroy the secular fabric of this great nation”,
he said.
