PANJIM: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal was on Wednesday transferred from Goa to Delhi by an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), New Delhi.
Also two other IAS officers Ankita Anand and Melaka Chaitanya Prasad were also transferred to Dadra, Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Union Territory. All these officers belonged to the AGMUT Cadre.
Further, the transfer of Secretary (Tourism) Ashok Kumar J from Goa to Delhi issued in December last year has been cancelled.
The MHA, Government of India on Wednesday issued transfer of 27 IAS officers of the AGMUT Cadre.
It may be recalled that the opposition Congress Party and social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues had urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to replace CEO Kunal as he was holding the post for almost six years.
Kunal had joined Goa administration in November 2015 and was appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer in August 2016.
