PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday interacted with students of Class VIII to X during the career guidance programme under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goa initiative.
The Chief Minister said the State Government has taken up various initiatives for all round development of students including implementation of NEP 2020 in the state and expressed confidence that the collaborative effort of the government, teachers, students and parents would help students to choose career paths and build a bright and successful future for the youth.

He advised the students to prepare for competitive examinations such as Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC), Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
“There is a need to develop culture of preparing for and appearing in the competitive examinations. This should be at the level of higher secondary and college,” he said.
The Chief Minister said students should understand as the ITI pass students have become entrepreneurs.
“New courses like hospitality and housekeeping will be introduced in all the ITIs from July 15,” he said, adding the government will extend all the possible support to the students for carrying out research and working on innovative projects.
Meanwhile, speaking to O Heraldo, Education Director Shailesh Zingde said, “We sanctioned some more teachers. They have to devote a lot of time as they have to visit Talukas. Wherever possible we have sanctioned teachers as per rules. Beyond that, we have sanctioned more teachers for additional subjects under Samagra Siksha. They will be recruited by the central government as it is under the central government’s programme. Those teachers will be allotted to schools. As far as timing is concerned, we have individually clarified that it is optional. For example classes for coding and robotics can go beyond 6 pm but it is for those students who are interested in it. Separate teachers will be given for it.”
