VASCO: The number of vehicles being abandoned across the Vasco city has became a major issue. Unclaimed vehicles not only occupy vast space on the road, but they also contribute to traffic congestion and parking issues across the city.
After numerous complaints both from the locals as well as by the Councillors, Municipal Chief Officer Agnelo A Fernandes has initiated a survey of all abandoned vehicles which are parked along the roads.
“Such abandoned vehicles are an eyesore to public and a public nuisance. Therefore, I have issued directions to find out the number of unclaimed vehicles lying on the roads and then based on the numbers we will take action against the vehicle owners. Also after the survey report, a public notice will be issued on local newspapers directing the owners to remove their vehicles on their own failing which action to be taken without any further notice,” Fernandes said.
He informed that this is being proposed to make Vasco a clean city. “Other drives will also continue and I also appeal to the people to cooperate and suggest ways to make Vasco a clean city,” he said.
