OLD GOA: Stating that the Chimbel Panchayat has already identified a site for building a project under the Deendayal scheme, Deputy Sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar said a proposal to this effect will be sent to the government at the earliest after all the formalities are completed.
Replying to a query of a local at the gram sabha on Sunday, Kunkolkar further said an area has been identified at the Indira Nagar bus stand and very soon the panchayat authorities will conduct a survey, and after getting NOC from authorities concerned, a proposal will be sent to the government for availing Rs 1 crore which it has promised for development to each panchayat.
“The project will have provisions for a market, shops and other amenities,” Kunkolkar later informed Herald while stating that the panchayat will chalk out further details in consultation with the locals.
Earlier, local Rumaldo Carvalho took exception to the chairing of the gram sabha by the deputy sarpanch even when Sarpanch Shruti Kunkalikar was present at the meeting.
Carvalho further sought to know whether the sarpanch has given in writing to the deputy sarpanch to conduct the gram sabha.
However, Deputy Sarpanch Kunkolkar informed that since the sarpanch has verbally granted permission to chair the gram sabha, there is no need of a written permission. “Even a panch has the right to chair the meet,” he added.
Another local Gurudas Shirodkar took the panchayat to task for not complying on the queries raised by the auditor in its audit report even when the locals have been demanding compliance of the same since the past several gram sabha meetings.
“The auditor has specifically raised query on the preparation of development plan for the village, which the panchayat has not prepared till date,” Shirodkar said and chided the panchayat authorities for taking the locals for a ride on the issue.
The panchayat also passed the budget estimates of over Rs 62 lakh.
