China’s forays have reduced says Parrikar

PANJIM: The transgressions by China into Indian territory have reduced and also the border dispute has been frozen over the last few years due to confidence building measures between both the countries, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said.

This statement comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China. “The border dispute with China is not new. It is there right from the time of India’s independence. It is an imaginary line and there are some issues which are related to perception,” Parrikar said.
“But in the last few years we have taken certain steps. We have built confidence and the dispute has been frozen. Compared to last year this year the transgression is less,” he added.
Parrikar also said that soon the Defence Ministry would sign an MoU with the Railway Ministry to run a railway line right to the country’s border.
