Chinchinim fields cultivated after 45 years

MARGAO:  The paddy fields at Durga-Chinchinim have been cultivated after a gap of over 45 years. The Agriculture Department has taken the initiative to get the fields cultivated.
The Agriculture Department will initially use six hectares of land and are sowing the varieties which are salt resistant and will survive and flourish in saline waters.
People of Durga have expressed delight over the replenished fields which had remained uncultivated since 1963. The water from a nearby canal of the Water Resources Department will be diverted into this field and used for irrigation. The officials hope that they will get a good result from this activity.
