MARGAO: Admission forms for Std XI Arts and Science at Chowgule Higher secondary school will be issued by the Deputy Director of Education, South education zone, Margao from Tuesday.
Director of Education Anil Powar has said that as per the decision of the government, the admission for Std XI Arts and Science will now be initiated by the Directorate of Education at its South Educational Zone, Margao.
He said that all eligible students have been requested to collect admission forms from the office of the deputy Director of Education, South from June 4 onwards. He pointed out that duly completed admission forms with necessary documents should be submitted by the students latest by June 7 to take further action.
Chowgule College Principal Prof R V Gaonkar was not available for comment on Sunday on the decision of the Director of Education to start the admission process for the higher secondary school from Tuesday.
The government has already issued a notice on the Chowgule Education society for take-over of the higher secondary school. The seven days notice period set by the government before taking over the higher secondary school under section 20 of the Education Act expires on June 5.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, during his visit to the Chowgule College last week, had said the government’s administrator would make his presence felt at the Chowgule Higher Secondary School from June 6 to streamline the admissions.
Chowgule Higher Secondary School has an intake capacity of 350 students – 250 in science stream and 100 (Arts stream) and the denial of admissions by the Chowgule Education Society had an adverse bearing on other higher secondary schools in Salcete this year.
In the absence of admissions for the Chowgule Higher Secondary School, students have made a beeline in Rosary Higher Secondary School and other higher secondary schools in Salcete, denying many a local student admissions in these institutions.
