MARGAO: Chowgule Education Society has submitted that the management was in need of a staff room to conduct classes for the M Sc course (analytical chemistry) as per the norms laid down by the Goa University.
During hearing of the intervention application filed by the teaching staff of Chowgule Higher Secondary School, the Society submitted to the South Goa Sessions Court that management had no intention to mete out harassment to the teaching staff, but only wanted the staff room to conduct classes in analytical chemistry.
Chowgule Education Society lawyer, Adv Avdhut Arsekar, told the media after the hearing that the Chowgule management wanted to set up infrastructure keeping in mind the conditions imposed by the Goa University before starting the M Sc course in analytical chemistry. “The Chowgule college has already received permission to start the course. We have also enrolled 20 students for the course, but want to provide the infrastructure since GU has set guidelines before starting the course,” he said, adding that the college has annexed the conditions laid down by the Goa University to the reply filed before the court.
The matter will now come up for hearing on July 23 for arguments on the intervention application field by the Chowgule higher secondary teaching staff.
