CHURCHES in Goa PUT ON ALERT

PANJIM: Following the serial blasts in Sri Lanka that killed over 200 people, the Goa Government has put Churches on alert by increasing security around the religious institution. The hotels are also directed to maintain strict vigil on the tourist visiting the place.  Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has issued instructions to Director General of Police, Pranab Nanda to heighten the security around the churches and also to inform the heads to be on alert.  
Speaking to media persons, Sawant condemned the coward terrorist attack in the churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday morning. “It is highly painful and condemnable. Such an incident taking place on Easter Day needs to be condemned,” he said.  He said that on Sunday morning and again in the afternoon he held meeting with DIG and reviewed the security situation in the churches of Goa.   “The security has already been tightened around Churches. The Coastal State has many churches and we have also asked the Heads of each church to be on alert,” Sawant said.  Chief Minister also spoke to the Archbishop Rev Fr Filipe Neri Ferrao later in the evening with regards to the security in the churches. 
Later speaking to media, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jaspal Singh informed that the patrolling across the State has been enhanced. He said that the Anti-Terrorist Squad is also on field patrolling.
