margao: The Benaulim NCP MLA Churchill Alemao at a media briefing criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Benaulim leaders for having spread falsehoods among the people that there is no water to the taps of the people in Benaulim. Churchill called on the Engineers of Water Supply and the Acting Sarpanch of Benaulim who informed that they have no complaints to this effect to date.
On Monday, the AAP representatives of Benaulim along with ZP Hanzel Fernandes had gathered at Perodem, Vhodlem Bhat, Benaulim to protest against the no supply of water to their taps.
On Tuesday, the Assistant Engineer of Water Supply Prasad Sakhardande who was with the MLA, said, “We have had no complaints,… in the last 2 months not a single complaint. In the month of June, there was no water for 4 days but after that, the supply has been regular.”
The Acting Sarpanch of Benaulim, Nilesh Prabhudesai added, “We have no complaints till now. Generally, ward panch receives complaints. There is sometimes low pressure to the tap and that is because our tank on Benaulim Monte is not functioning.”
While criticizing AAP, Churchill accused their party of promoting their political agenda through such tactics and other ways.
“They have lied on the day Jesus was born. The leader is a liar. Earlier, their own villages did not have water but when I became the PWD Minister, I (the govt) spent Rs 16 crore and installed a new line,” said Churchill.
“AAP is a party full of liars and they got votes with lies. Some people have been cheated by them and they will realize their mistake,” he added
“AAP is the BJP ‘B’ team and is out to divide votes. Benaulim constituency doesn’t have water for 2 years is a totally false claim and they will face justice for lying on the day of Jesus. There is no deficiency of water. Don’t spoil the name of an MLA who has worked for people,” he added.
