Yes, we do have great minds and brains in the country that have achieved Nuclear Fission, Ballistic & Cruise missiles, Rocket Technology, positioned indigenious Geostationary satellites, and are now developing a Space Shuttle. So, it amazes me that we cannot guarantee the residents of Goa steady, stable and constant 24/7 electricity! It is unacceptable that whenever there are even mild showers, the electricity supply is immediately disrupted! Most amazing is the fact that whenever the electricity is disrupted, the PWD cannot supply water due to lack of electricity at the pumping stations! Recently in Porvorim, we do not have adequate water supply because “there was no electricity in Assonora ” (sic)!
After centuries of Monsoons and electrical supply disruptions, a simple clerk would conclude that all pumping stations should be supplied with Gensets (Generators on diesel) to guarantee the pumping and hence the supply of water. Not only are we, tax paying citizens, made to suffer without electricity in this humid heat but also left with no water to drink or to bathe!
With all our “highly educated” politicians, the government not only cannot guarantee the above, but they cannot even build a small stretch of road from Miramar to Dona Paula in more than 2 years!
