The garbage piles are what one can come across as the ferry drops the passengers on the Panjim side. Besides Goan people and Indian tourists, the ferry services are also regularly used by foreign tourists and we can gauge what message they get about our standards of cleanliness.
And we have all of a sudden, six officials of Corporation of The City of Panjim missing from Goa till it is announced by the Mayor that they are touring Croatia. What will they learn there and what knowledge will they bring to Goa other than waste tax payers money? A visit to some of our North Indian cities could have given them an insight on how to keep the city smart-looking. The very basic function of keeping the cities clean is beyond their capacity and they come up with big promises, none of which is within their comprehension and capacity.
One only needs to go around the City of Panjim, the capital city of Goa and observe the state of its decadence, filthy to the core, not one street having proper footpaths, street furniture or objects making the city look attractive.
