CUNCOLIM: In spite of spending huge amount of Rs 11 crores for repair and restoration of power supply in Cuncolim Municipal area, the Cuncolkars have not find any relief from regular power cuts.
Irregular power supply in Cuncolim is the same old story for the Cuncolkars. Every day at least 10 times current goes off. The Electricity Department was claiming that after the repair work and changing the wire lines and poles there will be smooth power supply but these words of power department have proved wrong.
A few months back, the Electricity Department had tendered repair and restoration of power supply work in Cuncolim. The government has spent 11 crores for this project. The contractor had replaced the electric poles, many transformers were replaced, wire lines changed. In spite of all this, the Cuncolkars are facing irregular power supply problem.
“Frequent power cuts have made our life miserable. In this lockdown situation neither we can go out from our house nor can we stay in the house due to current off. It’s difficult in this season to remain at home without current. I appeal to Power Minister Nilesh Cabral and local MLA Clafacio Dias to look into the matter and resolve our problem,” said local resident Premanand Naik Dessai.
The locals are demanding inquiry into the repair work carried out by the contractor.
