The menace of stray dogs and stray cattle has become a serious matter at most of the locations in Goa. However, the matter is not being tackled with the seriousness it demands. As a result, people at large face great inconvenience and trouble in their day-to-day lives.
In Ponda, stray dogs are noticed at different spots including Tisk, Khadpabandh, Varkhandem and Upper Bazaar. Even at the municipal market, the dogs occupy the place adjacent to fish vendors. Hence customers visiting these premises to buy fish face great risk and danger.
Similarly, stray cattle too cause inconvenience and hardships to innocent travellers and pedestrians as well. Presence of cattle on the road ultimately raises the possibility of a mishap, more so during the night.
In Ponda, the bovines have been regularly noticed near Hotel Menino and also near Saraswat Bank. It is time for the higher officials at the Ponda Municipal council to initiate prompt and favourable action in restricting the above growing menace so that safety is assured to public on a permanent basis.
