Stray cattle menace has become a serious problem during recent times. The menace proves dangerous for the lives of innocent travellers proceeding along the concerned routes. Cattle occupy the road not only during the day but even at night thereby creating hindrance for vehicular traffic. Two-wheeler riders remain to be the worst sufferers in the process.
On previous occasions many two-wheeler riders have either been seriously injured or some of them have even lost their precious lives in the process. In Ponda, cattle relax over the pavement adjacent to Hotel Menino in the vicinity of old bus-stand thereby causing inconvenience for pillion riders wishing to park their vehicles at this spot which happens to be a parking area. Cattle also occupy the road near Dada Vaidya Chowk and also at Tisk area.
The menace is noticed at Dhawali area too. The PMC as a competent authority has failed to assure normalcy in this sensitive issue in the interest of travellers and pedestrians alike.
In villages too the situation is no different. At Adpai, cattle occupy the road adjacent to the Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd. and also near the entrance of the Village Panchayat of Durbhat. Presence of cowdung adjacent to this VP amply justifies this fact. The Panchayat has not initiated any favourable action as yet to tackle this ever-growing menace. Even at the villages of Queula and Talaulim, cattle causes hardships for public at large.
Of course, precious human lives cannot be taken for granted at any instance. Hence it is absolutely necessary for the concerned competent authorities at the respective jurisdictions to consider above menace quite seriously and initiate prompt positive steps to restrict the same before the existing deteriorating situation turns from bad to worse.
It is time for the local MLAs at the concerned locations to take up the lead in this important matter and see to it that necessary relief is assured for travellers and pedestrians on a permanent basis.
