The sharp turn adjacent to the Public Works Department (PWD-Water Division) at Daag in Ponda happens to be a most sensitive location, as vehicles going from either side move at a fast speed, thereby raising the possibility of a major mishap.
There is dearth of traffic signboards and the existing sole signboard is covered with leaves of an adjoining tree and so travellers plying along this route remain ignorant about the prescribed instruction about the turn.
Speed-breakers too are nowhere to be seen and over-speeding of vehicles have become a regular phenomenon. The road at one side too is in a damaged condition and there is every possibility bikers, especially pillion riders, collapsing into the adjacent drain.
At times bushes and branches of adjoining trees affect the visibility of motorists.
Many accidents have occurred at this critical spot during the past few years and I can recollect a major mishap involving a private bus and a pillion rider that took place some years back, wherein the pillion rider was killed on the spot.
With the ever-increasing vehicular traffic along this route it has become dangerous for motorists and pedestrians.
Under such circumstances, there is the need for the concerned authorities to levy a sympathetic attitude towards this and introduce necessary precautionary measures at the location before any mishaps occur.
