Electricity Dept clarifies over Vasco transformer

The Office of the Chief Electrical Engineer would like to clarify the fact with regard to the letter “Upgrade Vasco transformer to avoid fluctuations” (Citizen Herald, November 9).

Chief Electrical Engineer Rajiv Samant informed that they have not received any voltage fluctuation complaints in the Port Town of Vasco due to old electric transformers. Old electric transformers are able to cope up with the rising demand in the Port Town. However, in areas where existing transformer is around 80 per cent loaded, estimate for new 200KVA transformer has already been sanctioned and tendering is in process.

LT underground estimate has been prepared with proposal for upgradation with additional transformer, wherever required and also enhancement of transformers, which shall be sanctioned depending upon the priority and availability of funds.
