It is shocking to see huge piles of decomposing filth in prominent city locations which is not cleared for days and weeks. Panjim City is crying for attention and we are told that the City coffers are empty though funds become available instantly for other activities.
Garbage collection and disposal on a daily basis is paramount for any city and the neglect of this can only be termed as dereliction of duty. It is the duty of City officials to earmark sites for garbage disposal and lack of sites cannot be the constant excuse put forward. Our State requires dedicated Commissioners like the one Surat once had who made it the cleanest City in India. Foreign study jaunts which Goan officials indulge in will see no progress in City Administration.
