The problem of haphazard parking on the pavements is faced by the pedestrians in city and several towns in the State. The vehicles, especially, the two-wheelers, are parked so haphazardly on the pavement that it leaves very little space for the movement of the pedestrians.
As a result, the pedestrians are forced to walk on the roads thereby putting their lives at risk. In the port town of Vasco though a part of the pavement along the Swatantra Path is earmarked for vehicular parking and the rest of the breadth of the pavement is meant for pedestrians, vehicles are seen parked across the entire breadth of the pavement (as seen in the photograph) leaving very little space for the pedestrians to move without any hindrance.
The authorities concerned need to act against those parking the vehicles haphazardly on the pavement thereby forcing the pedestrians to squeeze their way through the space between the parked vehicles or walk on the road.
