Sanguem: Consequent to the report published on Citizen Herald dated June 4, 2018, highlighting the problems faced by the sports lovers in Sanguem due to incomplete work by contractor at Government Sports Complex Sanguem, the SAG officials led by Assistant Director R V Kumbhar, Gilson Baptista, Deepak Parrikar, SAG Engineer Prakash Velip, Sanguem Sports Complex in-charge Sitaram Gaonkar and others visited the Government Sports Complex Sanguem and conducted inspection of the incomplete works.
During the course of inspection, Kumbhar assured to immediately terminate the work order released to the contractor and issue fresh tenders of the incomplete work. The new contractor will be appointed soon and the work of the incomplete works will be completed immediately after monsoon, said Kumbhar.
He, however, assured to undertake the concrete work of the jogging track in the next few days.
Kumbhar also instructed the officials at Sanguem Sports Complex to plant trees alongside the walking track for shade.
With respect to the spectators’ stand, the same shall be modified if necessary and the work of putting shade for the spectators’ stand will be undertaken by the new contractor, claimed Kumbhar, further adding that the SAG will also construct table tennis courts for both men and women alongside the spectators’ stand.
The officials also inspected the open area reserved for the construction of the swimming pool which is the prime need for the athletes in Sanguem.
Kumbhar also assured of total revamp of the existing gymkhana complex and giving it a new look.
“The existing badminton court will also be refreshed and the equipment installed in the gymkhana will be upgraded. However all these works will be done only after the renovation of the existing gymkhana building,” Kumbhar told Herald.
