I had written to the Deputy Collector, Mapusa regarding the illegal barricading of road setback area outside Hotel Green Park, Guirim, on September 21, but regret to inform that no action has been initiated till date.
The hotel has illegally barricaded the area outside their compound wall and marked it for parking vehicles of hotel residents. This area is for road setback and public use. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel that is used by many office-goers coming from areas bypassing Mapusa city, who park their vehicles near this bus stop. The road setback which is for public utility and road widening belongs to PWD department and not Hotel Green Park.
I request the Deputy Collector to direct the hotel owners to remove the illegal barricades outside the hotel compound immediately and also direct concerned departments to clear the barricades, as it amounts to encroachment of government property.
Clearing the above area will allow office-goers to park their vehicles there.
