I went to the post office of Majorda in the morning around 10.15am on March 26 to pay money of RD scheme.
I was happy to see only one person at the counter. As I looked in the office I saw 3 people of which I think two were post man. The person sitting on the chair looked so busy that he did not bother to ask what has happened. After waiting for more than 15 minutes in-front of him, I asked him ‘Are you busy’? He did not bother to reply. So I raised my voice saying Senhor, Why don’t you speak? “I have been waiting here and you seem not bothered.” Thereafter he told me that he is not sitting idle. One of the post man advised him two times to take my money and finish my work, but it went to his deaf ears. So I asked him his name to which he asked me ‘kiteak’? (Why?). Then I asked him again boldly; he said Toraskar.
Than I asked him to give me complain register book but he told me that he did not know where the lady kept the book. By this time one post man went out from the back door and the other one went inside the next room to do his work. After all this I came back without paying, informing them that this will be reported. By this time there were a lot of spectators looking at me, and as usual no words from anyone. Even on all working days when the post office opens in the morning they say they have to finish their office work [delivery of letters-parcels] first before attending you.
My question is, are this people forced to work there? Isn’t their salary paid by the people?
Why I was not given the complain register book? Most of the people go through these problems in this post office but they prefer to say some un-parliamentary words or grumble and get their work done. Can the person concerned look into this matter by putting another staff so that the public are attended too swiftly?
