These photographs look simple but what it hides is the most important aspect. This open space is within the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and is where the Samadhi for former defence minister of India and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is being constructed.
They were clicked by me on March 13, at Miramar, when work was going on in full swing for a Samadhi of our dear departed Chief Minister and Union Minister. It would have been very easy to obtain the relevant licences and approvals since the area is being used for the Samadhi of such a prominent personality but what amazes most people is that the authorities are doing so with great impunity, in violation of all norms of decency and in a very undemocratic manner.

The photographs uncover the arrogance of the authorities who have been given the task of constructing this monument. It would send a very bad message that others with power and money will flout norms and point fingers at this precedent.
Encroachment of the sandy beach area of Miramar is decreasing the width of the beach front. Beautification of the area and other constructions by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) will commercialise Miramar Beach, which until now gave free access to people. A big construction with a massive area is planned behind the Pergola on the beach where there will be entry and exit doors with a security guard to receive the tourists and customers. This news was provided by a credible source on condition of anonymity.
In the near future a situation should not arise wherein beach beds come up at Miramar to cater the tourist and locals cannot enjoy the beach for free.
