Citizen John Rebello, Bainguinim, Old Goa
Every child learns in school what the fundamental rights of Citizens are. Hence, the decision of the Bombay High Court in Goa that roads in Goa should be in reasonable condition has reminded us of this fundamental right. But in Goa, we seem to lack the infrastructure.
The case of the Kadamba Highway from Old Goa to Panjim where road work began a little before the Exposition of St. Francis Xavier, last November is still continuing but shows no signs of coming to an end. The monsoon season is soon approaching but the entrance and road leading to Navelkar Hill City is in bad condition. To temporarily please us, it is being worked on quickly but there is no permanent fix. Besides that, the demolition of the arch for the benefit of the highway is a nightmare.
The authorities concerned should see that they come to a solution before the completion of the highway as we believe that this project will restart and be completed only after the rains. Till then, God help us from this nightmare -especially to drive in the night.
