SANGUEM: The villagers of Marangan, Sanguem have raised concerned over the overhead loose hanging electricity supply wires in the area and the danger it poses to the people in the event of the wires getting snapped due to gusty winds during the monsoon.
A villager, Yeshwant Naik complained that due to the loose electricity wires, which are hanging overhead at many places, the villagers are facing frequent power supply problems as the loose wires come in contact with each other due to gusty winds leading to short circuit and blowing of the fuse.
Naik said that on every such occasion of power failure, the villagers have to rush to Sanguem town, a distance of three kilometres to lodge a complaint, as most of the time the linesmen are not available at the control room to receive the complaints on the phone.
He expressed an urgent need of deputing a full time employee at the control room in town to receive the calls and address the people’s complaints.
Naik also pointed out that at some places the electricity wires have been covered by creepers thereby exposing the power lines to imminent dangers of short circuits.
The villagers from Marangan have also demanded the immediate shifting of electricity supply wires on the new poles which are installed in the village as the old poles are in dilapidated condition and may crash at any time.
