Maintaining hygienic conditions gain great significance. However, it is a matter of utmost concern to notice garbage including plastic bags in a scattered condition at different locations in the State.
The municipalities and village panchayats have been undertaking cleanliness drives from time to time. Still, no favourable change is being noticed and unhygienic conditions tend to be the order of the day for travellers and pedestrians alike. The situation tends to be a perfect eyesore to one and all. Seen in the picture is garbage along large area existing in a scattered condition along the internal road proceeding from KTC bus terminus towards Farmagudi in Ponda.
On many occasions, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, people purposely visit this area to dump their household garbage on regular basis. In case, the garbage is not cleared regularly, the premises would turn into another Sonsoddo, thereby posing a health hazard to human lives. It is very much essential that the concerned authorities exercise a strict vigil on the persons dumping garbage at this strategic location.
Cash fines should be levied so that such an undesirable practice comes under firm control. Let us hope that the concerned authorities would initiate appropriate positive action so as to assure hygienic conditions to one and all.
